Presenting . . . Our Distinguished
Janet Burgoon Award Recipients
Each year at North Shore Senior Center's Annual Benefit, we present three awards in honor of the Center's first Executive Director, Janet Burgoon. Ms. Burgoon believed older adults should enjoy full participation in community life. These three awards recognize individuals who exemplify Ms. Burgoon's dedication to our mission of fostering the independence and well-being of older adults, enhancing their dignity and self respect, and contributing toward all aspects of community life. This year's distinguished honorees are:
Martha & Lloyd Ferguson

The Russell & Josephine Kott Memorial Charitable Trust

Founded in 1956 North Shore Senior Center’s original intent was to enrich the lives of seniors by giving them a place to socialize, volunteer and learn. Later, counseling and social services were offered. In fiscal year 2016, we served 23,694 seniors throughout the northern suburbs. Our programs enhance the quality of life of seniors and allow them to remain independent and in their homes for as long as possible. For the past 61 years, our mission has remained the same: to help foster the independence and well-being of older adults, enhance their dignity and self-respect, and promote their participation in and contribution toward all aspects of community life. North Shore Senior Center is a 501(c)(3) organization.
