About Us

Founded in 1956 North Shore Senior Center’s original intent was to enrich the lives of seniors by giving them a place to socialize, volunteer and learn. Later, counseling and social services were offered. In fiscal year 2016, we served 23,694 seniors throughout the northern suburbs. Our programs enhance the quality of life of seniors and allow them to remain independent and in their homes for as long as possible. For the past 61 years, our mission has remained the same: to help foster the independence and well-being of older adults, enhance their dignity and self-respect, and promote their participation in and contribution toward all aspects of community life. North Shore Senior Center is a 501(c)(3) organization. We welcome adults of all races, ethnicities, religious traditions and spiritual practices, genders and sexual orientations.
